Queen's University vs McMaster Marauders
On Saturday I was assigned to shoot the semi-final university football game at Richardson Stadium. Queen's was playing the McMaster Marauders, Queen's won the game, and go on to play in the final game this coming Saturday. I will have photos of this game as well, so keep your eyes open. I was assigned to cover the game by the Hamilton Spectator, they wanted photos of McMaster; I found it difficult to get photos of McMaster players accomplishing anything on the field. Queen's was just too good!

Sense of Belonging 2009
For the second year documentary class, we had to find five subject with something in common. I found a group of runners who go out every Monday night in Kingston. After their runs they meet back up at the Kingston Brewing Company for pints and nachos. With a strong turn out, the Running Dragons is becoming a popular Monday night event. Here are some photos from the shoot.

A Day at the Sugar Shack
For my multiple picture story photo assignment, I made my way out to Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. The old tradition that is the sugar shack has not died in Kingston, Ontario yet. Not only does a visitor to the sugar shack get to take a look at how maple syrup is made in this day and age, they get a glimpse of maple syrup's past. They can also get a pancake or two to enjoy outside the lodge at the sugar shack. Visiting the sugar shack is a tradition that many families from Kingston and the surrounding area do on an annual basis. This is Little Cat Creek's busiest year to date, selling anywhere from 1,000 to 1,600 pancakes a day during the weekend. It has been a good year for the staff and volunteers at the conservation area. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and everyone who was at the sugar shack was great to work with. During my visit, they treated me like a welcome guest.

It's been awhile
Since I haven't posted in a while, I felt the need to start again. For the 48-hour news and writing class assignments, the photojournalism class had to go out and find a senior citizen. We had to photograph them and write a story about them before the deadline on Friday morning. Barb Herrington was my subject. A registered nurse's assistant working at Quinte General Hospital, Herrington works in the cardiology wing.

Red Bull Crashed Ice 2009
Over the weekend I had the pleasure of traveling to old Quebec City. The purpose of the trip was to shoot the Red Bull Crashed Ice event which was being held in the city. If your not sure what the event is, just search Red Bull Crashed Ice on youtube.com, and you will figure it out fairly quickly. I had a great time over the course of the trip. Going up there along with three other classmates, I am happy to say that we all made it back in one piece and with all of our toes and fingers attached (yes it was extremely cold there). It was a great time, and I plan on attending in the future.
